I think the cartoon expresses how technology is taking over our lives. The bow can't even get the girl a simple bow of chocolates?! I think Mr Pratt chose this comic based on two reasons.
1: Valentines day is coming up 2: It ties in perfectly with our second article
I think what that guy in the picture is extremely low down and stupid because if you are just going to talk to your girlfriend or your crush that you like them on a text message then you obviously you don't even know what the word " valentines " means. Also I think it is pathetic when a bunch of teens are sitting in the same room and are just texting each other and aren't even having a face to face conversation.
Is the idea of "electronics taking over" a bad thing? What effect is technology having on face to face communication? In this case the guy with his girlfriend?
I think this article is saying that these days if Jeremy (this is what I named him) wants to get Clara (what I named her) some roses he is going to get her a email pic of a flower and she is going to thik is sweet because that is just how wrapped up in facebook and Iphones and Ipads and the like that we forget that there is still a world beyond technology. Heck, you can go to high school online! This world is going mad. I personally would rather recive a bouquet of roses and a sweet card like is was done about five years ago from my boyfriend (not that I have one). Call me (scratch that, wake me up personally) when teens are so technology crazed, if ever. *sighs*
Speaking from experience, I know if I sent my wife "virtual" flowers for Valentine's Day or her birthday, it definitely woulnd't mean as much as a the real thing.

i think david is right that electronics are taking over the nation.
this boy wants to go out with this girl and doesn't want to talk to the girl face to face and uses electronice
I think that the cartoon is saying technology is taking us humans over. Instead of talking face to face we talk phone to phone.
