"The Energy of an Internet Search" was an article written by Alexandra Ossola. The article talked about energy needed to run the servers that power search engines and websites all over the internet. The energy from these servers then emits greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere which is contributing to global warming. Although the article did not call for an end to the use of the internet, the message to its readers was personal awareness in terms of individual energy use.

After reading the article, I found the following to be interesting. Computer, printers, and mobile phones emitted as much carbon dioxide in 2007 as the aviation (airplane) industry did. Computers and electronics account for nine percent of electricity use at home. 131 billion internet searches were conducted last year. Laptop computers are more energy efficient than desktop computers.

I enjoyed reading this article. I like how the author broke up the article into two parts, the increased energy use, then provided tips for being more energy efficient. My favorite part of the article was when the author talked about how one person can't fix energy consumption worldwide, but as individuals, we need to be more conscious of energy use. I would recommend this article to young people who spend a lot of their time on the internet or use electronic devices.

"The Energy of an Internet Search." was an article by Alexandra Ossola. This article was about how you use energy and how much you use per search. I would summarise this article as how you can conserve energy.

These are four facts I learned while reading this article: by 2011 we will use about 107 billion killowat hours. Computers and electronics account for about 9% of home electricity use. In December of 2009 we conducted 131 billion searches. Internet often uses less energy than other methods.

I liked reading this article. I liked how the author split the article into two different parts 1. How much energy is used per search 2. How to conserve energy. I would recommend this to everyone that owns a computer.

The title of this article is " The Energy of an Internet search" and was written by Alexandra Ossola. This is about how searching on the internet is bad for the enviorment. And how when you search one word on the internet you may think it's just searching but many more things are happening behind the computer. And that there is many way to save energy. This is taking place worldwide.

Four facts I learned while reading this article
1. IF you use a laptop instead of a computer you are saving energy.
2. That just unplugging appliances when you are not using them saves energy.
3. That when you search on the internet alot more things are happening then just searching
4. And that no gas is totally clean

I liked this article because it showed me ways tok save energy. I learned more about the internet and what going on. And how much things happen because of computers. I recommend this article to everyone.

The title of this article is "The Energy of an Internet Search". The author of this article is "Alexandra Ossola". This article tells you how much energy is actually being used. It tells you how to prevent so much energy. A lot of people search for what you are searching for at the same time. This article is taking place Nation Wide.

Four facts i learned from this article are :
1)Computers use energy when they are off.
2) They're is a lot of energy being used by computers
3)A lot of people search for the same thing as you.
4)Some people don't care about using the internet.

I thought this was a good article. There is still ways to improve the system. I didn't know laptops were better that desktop computers. I would recommend this to people who want to save energy.

"The energy of an internet search" by Alexandra Ossola is about internet searches using energy. Data centers take up lots of power. The EPA estimates that by 2011 data centers will use 107 billion kilowatt hours per year in the whole world.
Some facts I learned are that computers and electronic account for 9% of home electricity use. Desktop computers use 3 to 5 times more energy than laptops use. Data centers use 2.5% percent of tatal electricity in the USA. Downloading music causes 40 to 80% fewer emissions than buying a cd.
I thought this article was ok.I'm amazed at the amount of energy searches use. We need to work on going greener. I recommend this article to people who want to make a difference in the world.

"The Energy of an Internet Search"by Alexandra Ossola is about how using the internet search consums alot of energy. and we could be using that energy. so at the end of the piece she talks about how we can save energy.

there are many interesting facts in this peice but here are some that stood out. using the internet travels all around the world. we use 1000 watts of energy in one hour of using computer. computers give off green house gas. computers use 9 percent of your energy in your house.

I thought the article was cool because we dont usualy learn about this stuff. But when we do its cool. Also i liked how they told us how to save energy. I would recomend this piece to parents so they know how much energy kids waste.

"The Energy if an Internet Search" was an aricle by Alexandra Ossola. The aricle was about how we use up alot og energy just to search things up in the internet. Also it talked about whi the gas from greenhouese can get into the air. Another thing it talked about was what steps we can take to conserve energy.
The facts below are things I found interesting.
1. Computers and electironics acoount for about 9% of home electricity.
2. Simply typing in the worl "pizza" is going to use abour alot of energy.
3.Every timg you type something into google it uese alto of machines to find the answer.
4. In december 2009 web users sround the world accounted for an estimate of 131 billion searches.
I thought the article was boring. I felt thins was because it was confusing with all the words I didn't know. Also I'm really am not into the tech stuff. I would reccomnd this article to people who use the internet alot. The article could teach them that there are greener ways to search the internet.

"The Energy of am Internet search"
The article was about the Internet. When you press search on Google or some search engines. A lot of search engines are working to find the answer. Its also about green house gasses and other air pollutants. This article has taken place worldwide.

Web sites as google, Yahoo and bing are called search engines, Programs that crawl all over the internet to find results when you type in something. Desktop computers use three to five times more energy than do laptops. some computers and other electronics also use power even when they're not turned on. Wether or not energy use go down significantly depends on the internet companies making their equipment more sustainable. These companies for example choose to use servers that are physismaller.

My overall thoughts of the article where that the article was kind of an in some parts interesting. And well I thought it was for older people then us. This wasn't really that good to read in some parts. I would recommend this article to someone that is older that 11 and 12

We read "The Energy of an Internet Search" by Alexandra Ossola. The article was about how although searching the Internet may be easy, it takes more energy than we realize. Still, some of the things the Internet doues for us cuts down on waste that would have been used otherwise. Overall, there are still many ways to improve the Internet and cut emissions, so don't worry about it too much.

Four things I found interesting in this article are: Your TV and microwave can still suck energy when turned off. Servers run the websites on the Internet. Searching the web takes al ot of energy, though it is efficient. There are many ways server companys can cut down on emissions.

I thought this article was a little boring, considering it's not something I would have chosen, if given the choice, because its a little techy for me. I do like the way the author gives tips on how we can help. THe article did help m learn several thins, so i do find if helpful, overall. I would recommend this article to people who are interested in cutting down on energy.

"The Energy of an Internet Search" written by Alexandra Ossola is about how much energy we use worldwide. We need to cut back how much energy we use daily. By a press of a button, so much stuff and hundreds of machines are giving off energy that we need to stop.

Four facts i learned while reading this article were:
1. In December of 2009,131 billion searches were estimated.
2. Elecricity from the sun, wind and water is "cleaner" energy.
3. The amount of power has gone up in the past five years.
4.Everything you do on the internet requires power.

My overall thoughts on this article: I thought this article was interesting to learn about because it gives tips on how to save energy. I wish we would not use so much energy we use now. I recommend this article to people who use alot of energy.

The aricle "the Energy of an Internet Search" by Alexandra Ossola was about how when you search something it uses a lot of energy. Using the internet could still save more energy than going to the library. They are trying to make servers more sustainable.

I learned the following after reading this article:
1.It uses a lot of energy to search something.
2.Most tecnologies burn oil, coal, and other natural gases for providing electricity.
3.Computers and electronics account for about 9% of home electricity.
4.Desktop computers use upto one third more energy than laptops.
This article really surprised me because I've never thought that just searching something could use ao much energy. I think if the websites make there systems more enviromently safe it can really help the problem. I would reccomened this article to people who use computers a lot.

four facts that i learned were more than 1,000 people are searching the same thing at once, when you search something it goes through like four machines, that going on a website burns oil and releases gases, and computers and electronics only take up 9% of house elecricity use.

i thought it was a good article because it told us that we need to stop using so much electricity.it also told us that we need to conserve energy. And one more thing it also told us how we can conserve energy.i would recomend this article to anyone who wants to make earth a better and greener place

" The Energy of a Internet Search " written by Alexandra Ossola was mostly about how much energy it takes to search for items. Also in one part of the article this article mentions some ways to find info bot only greener. This AOW also mentions about how much energy people use for looking for the same thing at the same time.

Some facts that I found interesting while I reading this article where........
- A laptop saves a lot more energy than a desktop because laptops run on batteries and not many plug into walls.
- People in America are always looking for new info on how we can make Internet search a lot greener.
-Today we Americans increasingly need to use energy to look for the silliest things.

I would recommend this article to Middle/High School students because they are always looking up stuff on the web.I actually liked this article especially when the AOW lists all those facts on how to make searching for info greener. For most of the article though the AOW was just saying "We a lot of energy though searching for stuff on the Internet."

After reading this article (the energy of an enternet search) I would have to summarize this article by saying this article was about the energy and non enviormentlly friendly all the electronics in this day in age but also in this article it sort of has some good news that scientists are trying to make better technology for the enviorment and that morely leads to golobal warming.

four facts i learned in this article ar.
1.data centers can not be taken down by one person
2.going to the library is better for the earth than googling somthing on the enternet.
3. alot of todays technolog is producing alot of energy
4.some doctors are trying to prevent this problem were having with technology

My over all thoughts on this article were that this was a helpful article even to scientists because this shows us all the dammager were doing and why i think scientists should do moreabout trying to fix this problem

Iwould recomend this article to all electronic users.

"The Energy of an Internet Search" was an article written by Alexandra Ossola. This article talks about the use of energy in a computer search. Also how they/we can make it more energy efficient. It gives a lot of information on energy use. This article mostly takes place worldwide.

Four facts that I learned from this article are:
1 When you search for something on the internet it uses more than one machine to get your answer.
2 Downloading music creates 40 to 80 percent fewer emissions than buying music on CD.
3 Phenomenon called Vampire Power is used for devices like TVs, and microwaves to keep sucking energy when the power button is off.
4 You should shut your computer off at night and on weekends and put it on sleep when you're not using it during the day.

I think that this article was actually understandable. People that own a computer should follow some of the advice this piece gives. I was surprised of how much much energy goes into searching for something on the internet. I would recommend this article to business companies, kids, and people who own a computer

"The Energy of a Internet Search" by Alexandra Ossola is an article about the world wide problem of searching the internet and using power. So if a lot of people search at the same time then you use even more energy. People are now trying to figure out how to fix that.

Four facts that I learned from the article are... If you unplug your computer when you are not using it then you can save more energy. Turning a computer on sleep uses about the same amount of energy as turning it off. Researchers are working on making a more energy efficient computer. Downloading music takes up to 80 percent more emissions than buying a CD

I really liked the article. It really made me think about what I do with my computer and how to save energy. I would recommend the article to any one who has a computer.

"The Energy of an Internet Search" was an article By; Alexandra Ossola. This article was about how much energy is used from computers. Typing in a single word can seem harmless but eaxh machine that the search encounters on it's journery uses energy.

Some facts that i learned from the article is a KWH is a common unit of energy measurement that is 1000 watts used over the peroid of one hour. Did you know that laptops are better energy effecent than desktop computers. Every time you search somthing on the internet it uses energy. computers and electronicsacount for only 9% of home electricity use.

I thought that this article was good. I like that the author told us what was happening and how we can help. I always wondered what would happen if we ran out of fossil fuels but i hope i don't figure out the hard way. I would recomend this article to kids so that they know it is important to watchyour computer habits.

Also how people are trying to help so it dose not take up so much energy. In the middle of the piece it talks about how we could be useing the energy for something different.

The four facts that I learned are. It takes up 1000 watts just to be on the conputer for an hour. How many people are online a day. What kWa stands for and means. What the word sustainable means.

I like this article because. It lets people know how much energy it takes to make one search. I also like it because it lets people know that it takes one person to waste alot of energy, that could go towards something good. I would recommend this article to people that spend to much time online.

The Energy of an Internet Search
The article is about the Internet, search engines and that household appliances use a lot of energy. The article makes us aware of the green house emissions from computers. Finally, the article gives us tips to stay green.

Four important facts listed in the article are…
To do a search on Google it needs several machines to find the data. Data centers use so much energy, they need cooling. A kilowatt-hour is 1,000 watts per hour. Laptops are more efficient than desktops.

My thoughts about the article are it gives us facts on how inefficient household appliances really are. Also, the article gives us more facts on how to be greener. I would recommend this article to anybody.
