Reg Wydeven's "Choices more abundant for today's school meals" was an article that talked about the new changes to the school lunch program across the United States. The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act was a bill signed by President Obama on December 13. This bill is aimed at adressing the obesity problem of youth in the United States. Prior to this, school lunch standards have not been addressed for the past fifteen years.

I found the following to be interesting after reading the article:
1. Obesity leads to a higher risk of blood pressure, cholesterol, and Type 2 Diabetes.
2. 32 million kids participate in school meal programs in the United States each day.
3. Healthier meals served in schools consist of: more fruits, vegtables, whole grains, and fat free / low fat milk.
4. Healthy / Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010 looks to limit saturated fat, sodium, calories, and trans fats served in school lunches.

I enjoyed the view of the author of this article. I hear many students talk about school lunch, the choices they have, and how the food tastes on a daily basis. Many kids eat hot lunch at school, and this is a great way to combat obesity, and get kids to eat more healthy. Making healthy decisions now will lead to a more healthy life in the future. I would recommend this article to anyone to eats hot lunch at school consistantly.

Choices More Abundant for Today’s School Meals
This article talks about how someone feels about school meals. This person wants the best meals for kids at school. The author also wants a healthily meal that is done right.

Four facts I have learned from this article are that USDA stand for U.S. Department of Agriculture. The author thinks like a kid to come up with a reason to make the meals better. The author wants all kids to have a healthy and tasty lunch. I also learned that there are people who care about what kids eat.

I agree with him because our hotdogs are green, hamburgers are cooked in water, and the tacos are making kids hack. We need a good cooked meal but not a rotten meal because teachers get real food and it’s not fair.

"Choices more abundant for today's school menus" by Reg Wydeven is about better school lunches. He talked about his daughter having hot lunch a lot. He said food was bad 30 years ago in the USA.
Some facts I learned were 32% of people 6 to 19 years old are overweight. 32,000,000 people have hot lunch everyday. Lunches are now 6 cents more per meal. Obama passed a healthy kids law on december 13.
I think this guy is wrong. Lunches are terrible these days. Once we were even served GREEN hot dogs. I recommend this article to overweight people.

This article, "Choices More Abundant for Today's School Meals" by Reg Wydeven was about how although packed lunches are generally healthier, children today tend to opt for hot lunches because of the alluring names and (yuck!) taste. Hot lunches may taste better today, but it's not any healthier. Since youth obesity rates are raising, healthier hot lunch food is in order.

Four pieces of information I found interesting are: Kids today think that lunchroom food is good (double yuck!). Obesity rates are record high. Lunch food prices have raised. Everyone has ideas on how to improve lunch food.

I disagree with the opinion that lunch food tastes better. The pizza still tastes like carpeting and the "beefy" (I swear it is NOT beef!) nachos are definitely puke-worthy. I do agree that improvements need to be made, For the healthier and tastier. I would recommend this article to the lunch food companies that make to food.

I liked the article because I like a lot of the hotblunch choices at school. The pears are only brown because that's what their natural color is. The lunch ladies don't try to make bad food.

"Choices more abundant for todays school meals" by Reg Wydeven this article talks about how we kids today have better choices then they did back then. The AOW also mentions US president Obama trying to make our school lunches even healthier. The AOW also says that the last school lunch update was 15 years back.

Three facts that I found interesting in this article were..............
-Our school lunches have not been updated in 15 years.
-Pres. Obama is striving to make our school lunches healthier.
-Kids from ages 6-19 about 32% are overweight or obese.

I would recommend this article to kids so they know what is to come. I disagree with president Obama completely & anyway we kids should have a say in it because it is OUR school lunches aren't they ? One time I found a bone in my hamburger.
