"Are You Ready for More?" was an article written by Sharon Begley of Newsweek. The article focused on climate change (global warming), and the freak weather that we have seen worldwide over the past few months. Sadly it looks as if this new wave of weather will soon be the "norm" if we as humans and Americans do not adapt.

After reading this article, I found the following to be interesting:
1. Joplin, MO residents had 24 minutes notice prior to the tornado hitting their town to take the necessary precautions.
2. Last year 1,000 torandos ripped across the United States, killing more than 500 people and causing $9 billion in damages.
3. 2010 was the hottest year on earth since weather records began.
4. 14 US states currently have climate adaption plans...36 do NOT!

I enjoyed reading this article. The article definitely points to changes that are going on with weather on Earth, changes that can no longer be ignored (which is what many are still trying to do). I feel as though the message from the article is quite simple, if we as humans (Americans) sit back and do nothing, we will quickly become victims to this changing weather. However, with adapting comes changes which many Americans do not always do a good job with. I would recommend this article to anyone between the ages of 12-18 because this will most definitely be a part of their generation.

Side note:
I appreciate all YOUR hard work with the articles of the week this school year. I realize not all articles were exciting to read, but my hope was that you not only learned a few things along the way, learned to become more of an active reader as well. Thank you!

"Are You Ready for More?" by Sharon Bealey was about global warming. It told us that the storms of this year are nothing compared to what is to come. People are preparing for the worse. The climate is making a disastrous change, and it is all the fault of us humans.

Four facts i learned in the article include: The climate has been stable for 12000 years. This year alone, 1000 tornadoes occurred in the USA. Climate change is happening really fast. Some people deny that global warming exists.

Wow! This is a lot to take in. I knew global warming was bad, but I didn't know that it is advancing at an alarming rate and getting worse by the second. I would recommend this article to people who don't beleive in global warming.

"Are You Ready For More" was an article by Sharon Begley. This article was about how climate changes and storms are ruining our homelands and other people's homelands.

here are four facts i learned
1.130 people died in the tornadoes and four were from the hospital.
2.over the past year there has been over 1,000 tornadoes.
3.500 people were hospitalized
4.$9 billion dollars of damages was caused.

I liked reading and didn't. i did because it warned us about climate change. I didn't because it basically said we don't care and were not going anything to stop it.

"Are you Ready For More" is about freak storms. The climate will drastically change in the near future. It also says what people are doing to protect themselves.
4 Facts
1.14 states are preparing for storms
2.The climate was stable for 12000 years
3.New york will increase 3 degrees by 2020
4.New Orleans and Miami could become islands
This is scary i think it was a little exaggerated but it will still be bad. I'm glad I don't live on the coast. I recommend this article to scientists.

"are you ready for more" by Sharon begley was a bunch of bad storms and tornado's that have ripped through the states. also they talked about global warming.

there were many interesting facts in this story. but here are some that really stood out.
1.last year there were 1000 tornado's in the U.S.
2.13 islands are submerged.
3.14 states are getting plans ready for hurricanes.
4.1 billion people live near low lying rivers.

I thought that the article was cool. because we don't usually get to learn about this stuff but when we do its cool.

"Are you Ready for More?" by Sharon Begley was about making changes to accommodate the weather. Apparently, global warming is effecting our planet. The warmer climate is leading to more storms. This article took place worldwide.

I learned that Russia lost 15,000 people during a 2010 heatstroke. New York is going to paint 3,000,000 square feet of roofs white. 130 people died from the Joplin, Missouri earthquake. 2010 was the hottest year since weather was recorded.

I didn't like the article. I don't believe that global warming is a real issue in the world. Weather changes, and we are just having a bad year. I would recommend this article to meteorologists.

Sharon Begley's "In a World of Climate Change, Freak Storms Are The New Normal. Why We're Unprepared for the Harrowing Future" article was very informational. This article stresses on the topic of natural disasters. Joplin, Missouri was recently hit with a devastating twister on May 22. Also, this article explains that we are not prepared for what mother nature might throw at us.

Four facts I learned from this article are...
1- 1,000 tornadoes ripped through the U.S
2- The Midwest suffered the wettest April in 116 years
3- The 2010 heat wave in Russia killed around 15,000 people
4- The year of 2010 was the hottest year on Earth since weather records began.

I thought this article was interesting. I liked how the article gave facts about natural disasters from past years. I thought it was sad when the article listed how many people died in those natural disasters. I would recommend this article to people that have been in or are interested in natural disasters.

"Are you ready for more" was an article by Sharon Begley. This article talks about how the climate keeps changing. People have to start adjusting to it. It is effecting the way we do things, like predicting the weather.

Four facts I learned:
1.The only fourteen states are preparing for weather change.
2.Diseases are starting to break out.
3.Some people don't believe in global warming.
4.Thirteen islands in the bay are submerged.

I didn't like this article. I thought it was kind of scary. I wander if things will just keep getting worse. I would recommend this article to everyone, so that they can prepare.

"Are You Ready for More" by Shanon Begley is summarized as from tornadoes to floods scientists believe that Earth is going through climate change. This climate change. This climate change is believing to cause even more disasters. But others don't think climate change is the reason for these disasters.

Some facts I learned were.........
-Missouri was prepared for the tornadoes.
-Some people think the climate on Earth has changed recently.
-Others believe the disasters are reactions of the climate change.
-More than 130 people died in Missouri from the tornadoes happening there.

I think this was a neat article. We already have learned about the disasters happening down South. Especially when we watch CNN.
