"Big Fish in Troubled Waters" was an article written by Stephen Ornes that addressed the current problem of overfishing. Fish such as sharks, cod, and tuna are being overfished, and their populations are dwindling fast! This is such a problem because these fish are at predators atop marine food chain in the ocean. Without these fish, many smaller fish will resort to eating plants and vegetation meant for organisms. The ultimate result is a domino effect of problems for all things that live in the ocean.

After reading the article I found the following to be interesting:
1. Big fish are important to the marine eco-system because they keep the numbers of the small fish ecosystem down.
2. Large numbers of the small fish ecosystem are bad because then too many small fish will feed on plants and vegetation meant for organisms.
3. Fishing technology has helped drastically with the amount of fish that have been caught over the past thirty years.
4. Multiple studies have been done that point to population (over fishing) issues with these larger fish dating back to the 1880's!

I thought this was an interesting article, but not something I would probably seek out myself. I think this is an issue that needs to be addressed, and soon! Many studies have been done that are pointing to overfishing, yet nothing has been done yet. I think a cap should be put on the number of large fish caught in the ocean until the population bounces back. I think that because nothing has been done yet to this point is irresponsible. I would recommend this article to anyone that enjoys fishing.

"Big Fish in Troubled Water" was written by Stephen Ornes. The article talked about the big predator fish becoming scarce. The big fish eat the smaller fish. The big ones are scarce because of overfishing in the oceans. The article takes place worldwide.

Four facts I learned were:
1. Since 1910 there are only 1/3 as many big fish.
2. The fish populations are changing because of overfishing.
3. Companies cant keep up with the demand for fish.
4. the fish that are going down are Cod, Tuna, and shark.

I liked the article because it relates to something I do. I thought it gave great facts. It stayed focused on one thing. I would recommend this article to anyone who goes fishing.

"Big Fish in Troubled Waters" was an article by Stephen Ornes. This article was about how sharks and other big fish are disappearing from oceans because fishermen are catching too many of them.

Here are four facts i learned reading this
1.big fish population is decreasing because fishermen are catching too many of them
2.between 1910-1970 fish population started to drop because technology grew
3.1/3 of the big fish are alice then there were in 1910
4.in the 20th century ffishermen stayed close to shore but later due to new technology they went to open sea.

I liked reading this article. I could really relate because 1.i like to fish and 2.i like eating fish so i could understand why this is an issue. i would recommend this article to fishermen who over fish.

"Big Fish in Troubled Waters" was an article written by Stephen Ornes. This article was about fish. These fish are destroying the food chain. They are eating other fish we eat.

I learned the following from reading this article.
1.Fish population is changing a lot.
2.To many sharks are getting caught.
3.They are destroying the food chain.
4.Fish eat each other.

I didn't like this article. it didn't give a lot of info. i wish they said the type of fish. I recommend this to fishermen.

"Big Fish in Troubled Waters" was an article written by Stephen Ornes. The article was about Big Fish like sharks keep on eating little fish. Also how fishermen are catching to many fish at a time. An how the fish population keep on shrinking. This is taking place worldwide.

Four facts I learned are........
1.Fish populations are changing and not necessarily for the good.
2.More of the smaller fish would devour more plants, leaving less vegetation for other fish.
3. Between 1910 and 1970 the numbers of big predons devress slowly.
4. Around that time fishing began using tools that led to catching more fish.

My overall thoughts on the article were that it really concerned me. It concerend me by how the fish population keeps going down because of thes big fish. When I saw the title I though ammediatly of Asian Carp. I think people who fish should read this.

"Big Fish in Troubled Waters" was an article written by Stephen Ornes. This article was about the change in big fish population. The numbeof big fish is slowly decreasing.
Four facts.
1. Big fish is slowly decreasing because fishermen are taking them out.
2.Big and firece predators are important to the maring life eco-system.
3.From 1910 to 1970 the population of big fish slowly decreased.
4.Large predators are getting harder to find.
I liked this article. Thsi has been a serious issue for a long time. People do not realize how important predators are. I would reccomend this article to fishermen.

After reading this article "big fish in troubled waters" This article was in the science world magazines and this was about how when avasive species come to waters the fish that live there thare habitat gets smaller because of the invasive species eat qll there food and because there are so many of these invasive species there will be no more food left for the larger older fish and will soon die and be no food for humans because we need BIG fish to eat and can't eat small fish. This article is takeing place nationwide.
Four facts i've learned from this article are....
1.I learned that the bigger fish in water holes are losing fish becaause of all the large groups of invasive species.
2.The small invasive species are affecting the fish markets and fisheries.
3.there is an association called the AAAS.
4.If this keeps up there will be no bigger fish in the world and no fish to eat.
My overall thoughts on this article are that people i think fdon't realize that if we don't do something more about this really bad problem there is a good chance kinds of carp will take over rivers lakes seas will be nothing but two certain fish and that will be bad for the echosystem.
I would recomend this article to fisherman.

"Big Fish in Troubled Waters" was an article written by Stephen Ornes. this article was about the big fish population. Most of the fish in the ocean are dying. Fish populations are changing everywhere. This article is taken place in the waters.

Four facts i learned
1) People like to eat predator fish
2) in 1970 the populationwas dropping so there are less fish
3)Thereare not a lot of fish around the world
4)Christenson and watson studied the fish population

My overall thoughts about this article would be. This was a good article about the fish population which explained a lot about it. Fishing companies are having trouble. I would recommend this article to people who like fishing.

The title of this article is " Big fish in troubled waters" and is by Stephen Ornes. This article was about how big fish populations are decreasing dramaticly. The reason it my be decreasing because people lover to eat these fish but there eating so much. And when small fish eat all the vegetation it leaves no food for the big fish being born downing the population. This is taking place worldwide.

Four facts I learned are...
1)That ever since fisherman have been using new technology the population for fish has dropped.
2)So many people like to eat shark, cod, and tuna the population is decreasing.
3)Fish can be fierce and huge but none can beat fish technology.
4)People believe big fish will soon dissappear because of how there population is dropping.

My overall thoughts are people should try to help these fish. And people should stop fishing for these fish for a while. And people should try to help these fish so they don't disappear. These are very important to our ecosystem just imagine if these fish totally disappeared. I recommend this to people who don't know about this.

"Big Fish in Troubled Waters" was about big fish disappearing. Fishermen are catching to many big fish. The big fish population is going down. It's taking place in the USA.
4 facts i learned are:
1. We need predator fish
2. Since 1970 the big fish population has gone down.
3. More fishing in open waters
4. With less fish=less fish for us to eat.
I thought it was a good article because it can help because it will bring awareness to the topic. That's why i liked it.I recommend this article to fishermen.

"Big Fish in troubled waters" is about fish population. Big fish are getting caught so there is less of them now. With less predators, there's more small fish worldwide.
Four Facts:
1.There's three times less big fish now than 101 years ago.
2.In the 1990s, fisherman caught five times more fish than in the middle of the century.
3.In the 80s we went farther out from shore.
4.With more small fish, there will be less vegetation.
I liked this article. It gives people awareness that fish populations are changing. It's sad that therse's less big fish. I recommend this article to fishermen.

"Big fish in trouble waters" by Stephen Orens was about the fish population going down. because the fishermen have been coming up with more technology. and better ways to catch bigger amount of fish.

there were a lot of interesting facts in this story, but here are some that really stood out.
1.many big fish have been taken.
2.more fish are being fished.
3.1970 is when the population began to drop.
4.technology has gotten better.

I thought that the article was cool. because we dont usually get to learn about this stuff. but when we do its cool. i would recomend this article to fishermen.

The article "Big Fish In Troubled Waters" by Stephan Ornes was about how big fish are dissapering from our waters. People are overfishing, which threatens to kill off fish. Also the numbers of fish are falling fast.

Four facts I learned while reading this article were:
1.There are to many predetors that are getting taken out of the water.
2.If this keeps happening there won't be a lot of fish for future generations.
3.In the 20th century most fish were caught by the shore.
4.Also if there are fewer fish, companies won't be able to keep up with the demand.

I liked this article.I thought it was very informative.I think that everyone shoud read this article so that we can all save the big fish.I would recommend this article to fisherman.

"Big fish in troubed waters" by Stephen Ornes, was an article about how some fishs populations are going down. It was also about the reason why some fish species are going down is because they are being over fished. Finally, the article was about what would happen to the big fish companys tht fish only those certain species of fish.

Four facts that i learned from the article are....
1. I learned that a food chain is a group of organisms that depends on the next for food.
2. I also learned that an organisms is an individual plant, animal, or other type of life form.
3.Some fish populations are changing for the worse because they are being fished to much.
4. Did you know that a predator is a animal that naturally preys on other animals.

I thought that this article was good because the author Stephan Ornes did a good job explaining what is going on to certain fish species. Another goood thing that he did is made very good word choice so that the audience (me) wouldn't get board. I would recomend this article to any fisherman so that they don't overfish certain species of fish.

"Big Fish in Troubled Waters" by Stephen Ornes was about how fishing is threataning the number of predator fish. In the future we might not have many sharks, cod, or tuna. Studies show the populations of these fish are decreasing. The article takes place nationwide.

I learned that the cause of the dropping population is overfishing. Between 1910 and 1970 the populations only decreased a little bit, but dropped majorly in the 70's. There are only 1/3 as many prdator fish now htene there were in 1910. In the early 1900's predator fish were more abundant because they had to stay closer to shore.

I liked the article. I didn't know that shark, cod, and tuna populations were so low. I thtink the article was very factual. I would recommend this article to fishermen and marine life specialists.

Big Fish in Troubled Waters" was an article written by Stephen Ornes . This article was about how big fish are being fished to much. Some of the fish that are being fished to much are shark, tuna and cod. And how other fish are more populare.

The facts I learnd are.
1 That fish are being overfished.
2 That small fish are more populare.
3 That people are fishing for sharks
4 That people are still fishing.

I liked this article alot because i like to fish. I also liked it because i thought it is cool to learn about fish. Also i like to know what is going on in the ocean.

"Big Fish in Troubled Waters" written by Stephen Ornes was about large fish like tuna being as they may at the top of the food chain. But these fish are becoming harder and harder to find. But if they did actually get extinct that would cause mayhem in smaller fish population.

These are some facts that I think are interesting.................
-These predators keep the fish population down
-If the population of these fish would drop down to only a few left other fish would have to resolve to eating plants
-These fish are still easily caught by the fishing technology
-Shark, cod, and tuna are usually over fished for

I think it would be a good idea to have a certain time to fish for tuna , cod, and shark because they don't exactly grow on trees. Even though probably there is some people that have been eating these fish all their lives but that can't possibly be the only food they have there. Either way if these people so badly want to eat these fish then can't they wait for a little bit?

"Big fish in troubled waters" by: Stephen ornes was about how people are over fishing. It also said that predators are getting caught which is increasing. This article was taken place nationwide.

Four facts I learned were:
1: some freshwater fish are bigger than sharks!!
2: some people like eating sharks.
3: They still have fish records dating back to 1880!
4: Their are 200 different fish records through 1880-2007.

I thought the article was good because it said not to over fish. I also agreed with them that when over fishing you can catch predetors and their preys popullation may grow and eat vegatation for other organisms. Then the organisms population will decrease because they couldn't eat. I would recommend this article to anyone who likes fishing.

Big Fish In Troubled Waters is an article by Steven Ornes. This article is about how in the early 1910s there were alot of fish and now all the big fish are decreasing tremendously. Since we came up with more better technology, fisherman has been catching more fish. This article is taking place worlwide.

Four facts I learned:
1. There is about 1\3 as many of the large fish eating fish as there was in 1910
2.For every 3 fish you found in 1910, you will only find 1 now
3. 1990s fisherman hauled in 5x as much fish by weight as they had in the middle of the century
4.The fish populating from 1910-2011 has been decreasing little by little

My thoughts were:
This article was interesting. It was interesting because I have never known that the fish population has been going down. I recommend this article to fisherman.

"BIg Fish In Troubled Waters" by Stephen Orns is an article about how large fish such as sharks are endangered. Fishermen have over fished these animals because of the high demand for them. Soon people won't have them to eat. This article takes place around the world.

Four facts that I learned from the article are:
1. In 1910 and 1970 large fish populations went down.
2. In 1970 you could see the difference of the large fish population.
3. There are about 1/3 of fish-eating fish as there was in 1970.
4. In the 1990s fishermen caught five times more fish than before.

I thought the article was good. Lots of people in the world like fish, but I can't imagine eating shark! People will eat anything these days. I would recommend this article to people who fish or eat fish.

2. An Organism means an individual plant, animal or other life-form.
3. They still have Fish records dating back to 1880!
4. I also learned that a Food Chain means a group of organisms in which each one depends on the next for food.

I thought the article was ok. I am not that interested in the topic, even though I understand it. But I thought it was still sort of interesting. I recommend this article to people who like to fish.

Big Fish in Troubled Water

The article talks about how the predators of the sea’s population are going down. How it affects the ecosystem and what people are doing about it.

I learned that predators of the seas are decreasing. That cod and tuna are predators. The word ecosystem means the balance of each animal’s effect on each other and their habitat. There is a group of people called the AAAS.

My thoughts are why would this happen. I think people were too worried about animal problems on land that we forgot about the sea problems. Also I’m worried that humans will destroy themselves and their homes and leave a trail of destruction.

"Big Fish in Troubled Waters" is an article written by Stephen Ornes. This article talks about big fish in the ecosystem. Big fish, like sharks and other big organisms are very important to the ecosystem. The big fish population has been decreasing since 1910.

Four facts I learned from this article are...
1-Big fish are important because they help bring the small fish population down.
2-The number of big fish in the ocean is very low.
3-Studies of how fish populations have changed over time dated all the way back to 1880.
4-Soon there won't be any big fish to find.

I thought this article was interesting. I always thought there was always more big fish and less of small fish. I guess I was wrong, all fisherman want are big fish, not small fish. I would recommend this article to fisherman, people who are someway/somehow involved with fish, and DNR.
