"Texas man gets first full face transplant in the US" was an article written by the associate press. This article was about a Texas man that was involved in a work related accident in which his face was severely burned. This accident was very serious in nature, and left his face in rough condition. However thanks to a grant from the Defense Department, the man was able to get a successful face transplant. The opportunity allowed the man to save his face from the condition it was in after his accident.
After reading the article, I found the following to be interesting: 1. The man's face operation took 15 hours, and more than 30 doctors, nurses, and others helped during this procedure. 2. The transplant could not restore the sight that was lost during the accident. 3. The Defense Department is looking into this procedure for future use with with soldiers. 4. Gender, race, age, and blood type go into finding a face donor.
I enjoyed reading this article. I was glad this man was able to get a second chance at leading a somewhat "normal" life. This man is very thankful for this opportunity, and that is evident from reading this article. I would recommend this article to anyone that has a low self-esteem of themselves.
