"The U.S. Census: Why Our Numbers Matter" was an article written by Nancy Gibbs. The article dealt with the U.S. Census, and how it has evolved since it was started in 1790. Pros and cons of the this ten year survey were addressed, as well as the money that is spent by our nation to conduct this survey. The overall importance of participation in the U.S. census was the underlying message of this article.

I found the following to be interesting after reading this article: the U.S. census takes place every ten years. About $15 billion is spent to conduct the Census. Overall volume at the U.S. Post Office dropped 13% last year. The first U.S. Census took place in 1790.

I found this article to be interesting. I did not know the U.S. Census has been around for as long as has, nor how expensive it is to conduct. I can understand why, although I do not agree with, so many people do not participate in the U.S. Census. I would recommend this article to anyone who teaches U.S. History, or anyone who has a family and has never participated in the U.S. Census.

The title of the article is the "U.S census: Why our number matter" by Nancy Gibbs and takes place in the USA. The way I would summarize it by saying being counted make some people feel worth it. Others sometimes don't want to because of fines. These fines can get up to 5,000 dollars.

Four facts I learned were, It cost 45,000 dollars to 3.9 million people. And that king David for order census God got so mad he sent a plauge too kill 70,000 people in three days. Two more are that it cost billions of dollars just to have a census sponsored by NASCAR. And last that people were worried that a state might inflate it's population.

My overall thoughts of the article were I disliked the article cause it was boring. I didn't think there was a purpose. I recommend this to everyone to see how much money were spending on this stuff.

"The US Census Why Our Numbers Matter" written by: Nancy Gibbs is in article taken place in the USA. This article is about people trying to find easier ways to count everyone and how people are refusing to mail back their thing on how many people live in your house or how many slaves etc.

Four facts I learned from this article was if you don't get your number of house members in then you would have to become a slave and it took a year and a half to count 3.9 million people. Another fact I learned was, to count all of us it took 338 million dollars for ads in 28 different languages. The last fact I learned was in the constitution every 10 years the country would recalculate which states got how many lawmakers.

I thought this article was boring this article did not make sense at all because there was a lot of words i didn't know and it was about things I'm not interested in. I would recommend this piece to people who don't know much about the census.

The U.S. Census: Why Our Numbers Matter

Source: Nancy Gibbs
This article describes the census. The census is used to find out about people in an area. The article tells us about the good and bad things of a census.
The census comes from the Latin word censere. The census has been used for 2,500 years. Every 10 years we will have a census because it’s in our constitution. The census makes some people afraid of the census.
I have no care or feeling for the census because it nothing I have to worry about. I feel like it might be a waste of money. I think the money spent on the census should be used for greater needs for our country. I would recommend this article to voters, and people new to the census.

The article "the US census: Why our numbers matter" by Nancy Gibbs was about the census every 10 years in the US. The article is from the stand point of an adult looking back on their college years.
Four facts I learned are, 1, that the penalty for refusing the number of people in your home was that you became a slave.2,lawmakers are very unpopular. I wonder why?:).3, some people think it's to instructive, but the writer doesn't.$, illegal immigrants fear of exposure.
Over all I think the article was very boring. I want stuff like roller coasters and exciting. I recommend this article to families without kids so they know what to do.

The article "US census: why our numbers matter" by Nancy Gibbs is mainly about why it is important to have the census. It costs roughly 15 billion dollars to have the census taken. The census is a efficient way to see how many people live in the U.S. The article takes place nationwide.

In the article I learned that the census pays $2.5 million for a super bowl add. The census gets an add on Dora the Explorer. They have the census every 10 years. The census gets ads in 28 languages.

I liked the article because it was interesting to learn so much. I can't believe it costs so much to have the census. I think the census is a good thing because it's good to have your facts straight about the people that live in the U.S.

The AOW this week was about the U.S. census. The author Nancy Gibbs
author of " The U.S. Census : Why our Numbers Matter " explains a little history on the census. Also a little on how they ship it to us and this article takes place all over America.

Some facts that I learned from this article was that the census in Latin means not count but more or less estimate. Another fact I learned is that the census is taken every 10 years. Also that in 1790 650 federal marshals went on horse back from house to house to count the people.

I some what liked this article because I like hearing a little history parts of the article. Another thing O liked about the article was all the neat facts. I would recommend this article to families across the country.

"The US Census Why our Numbers Matter" was written by Nancy Gibbs and took place world wide. This article was about finding an easier way to count people that are refusing to mail or send back their info on how many people live in their house ect. Nancy states her opinion a lot.

I learned the following from this article: It took a year and a half to count 3.9 million people. It cost 338 million dollars to make ads for 28 different languages. I cost dollars for the census to be sponsored by NASCAR. Lastly the first US census took place in 1790.

I did not enjoy reading this article. I thought this article was boring and didn't make any sense to me. I don't like the article because i don't like reading and all but i dislike it because i am not interested in this stuff. I recommend this to any parents or teachers.

Here are 4 facts that i learned.1. you can become a slave if you did not mail your papers in.2. every 10 years the constition had to coulate the states and Witch ones got lawmakers.3.It took 1year and a hafe to count 3.9 million people.4.it is a lot of money to count us.

My overall thoughts were: I did not like this artical. It was not that interesting. It gave lots of facts but boring ones. I would recomend this to people who are going to start sending the pappers on how many people live in your home.

The article U.S Census: why our numbers matter written by Nancy Gibbs was about the U.S census and how it formed in the 1970s.It also was about why it was important to participate in it. And it told us how it works.

four facts i learned were it was formed in rome over 2,500 years ago. It took a year and a half to find out the census in the earlier times.Census workers can get finned up to 250,000 dollars. And in the earlier times there were 3.9 million people.

I didn't really like the article because I don't really pay attention to the census and it didn't really tie me in to the story. I would recomend this article to anyone who doesn't know about the census.

"The U.S. Census:why our numbers matter" was an article written by Nancy Gibbs. In the article it talked about the first ever census. They also talked about how they do it now. And how people sometimes dont wasn't to be counted in the census. The article was taken place nationwide.

Some facts I learned throughout the article are: illegal immigrants dont do the census so they dont get exposed. The fist census took 1.5. The first census had 650 men on horseback counting. And the first ever census cost 45,000 dollars.

I didn't really like the article because it wasn't very interesting. It talked about why people wanted and didn't want to be in the census. I wish they would have explained some things better. I would recommend this article to anyone who want to be in the census and anyone who doesn't want to be in it.

"The US Census why the numbers matter" by nacy gibbs is about the us census. It costs alot of money to mail it so they maybe email it. Maybe that would save money is what they are saying.

There are many interesting facts in the artical but here are some that stood out to me. They used to ride on hores back to get from house to house. It costs 15 billion dollors to put out the adds. Also many familys dont turn in there census. And that the census began in 1790.

I thought that the artical was cool. Usually kids our age dont get to learn about this stuff. I would recomend this piece to people who like polotics.

It takes a year and a half to count 3.9 million people. And it costs 2.5 million dollars for a superbowl ad that is alot of money. This article is taking place in Nation-Wide.

The facts i learned about this article are you can count anything other than people, Takes a yeah and a half to count 3.9 million people, ads on tv cost alot of money.

It was suprising that is costs $45,000 to count 3.9 million people a year. I aslo thought that 2.5 million dollars for a superbowl ad and i think that is too much money they should really lower the prices of superbowl ads. I would reccomend this arcticle to people who count people and the people who want to go to a super bowl game.

"The U.S. Cencus: Why Our Numbers Matter" was about how some people don't want to be counted in the cencus. It costs a lot of money to take a cencus because of all the adds. Also some people don't want to give to much information to the government.

I learned the following after reading this article:Taking the cencus costs a lot of money. Illegal imagrents don't want to be counted because they are scared of exposure. If you don't participate in the cencus you might have to pay a five thousand dollar fine. Cencus workers who look at the information could be fined 250,000 dollars.

This article really surprised me. I couldn't believe how much money it took just for the government to take a cencus. I also think that you should be able to pick if you want to be in the cencus or not, without being fined. I would reccomend this article to people who are concerned about being in the cencus.

"The U.S. Census: Why Our Numbers Matter" by Nancey Gibbs is about the U.S. census. It's about how the government spends money on i and the concerns people have on the census. It is also about how the census makes people feel. The article takes place in the United Stated.

Four facts that I learned are: The Latin word for census is censure which means estimate. In 1790 650 federal marshals went house to house, the cost was $45,000 and it took 1.5 years to count 3.9 people. $2.5 million are spent on ads for TV and radio to advertise the U.S. census. And finally insecreat census workers can be charged up to $250,000.

I didn't really like the article. Probably because I don't really care that much about the census. But this article did teach me more about the census but still I didn't like it. I would recommend this article to people who submit or not submit there census.

We read an article by Nancy Gibbs titled "U.S. Census: Why Our Numbers Matter." The article was about how the U.S. spends millions of dollars on the census, which was started around 1790. It helps our country know its population. Some people think that if we spend this much money, we should demand more information, while some think that the census demands too much information. This article took place across the U.S.A.

Four facts I learned from the article are: the government puts census ads o Nascar ads. The census idea was thought of in Rome 2,500 years ago. Not taking the census could result in you paying a $5,000 fine. The government puts census ads on Dora.

I thought this article was kind of confusing, talking about things I don't necessarily know. I liked that it was written like the author was talking to someone though. I also like that it gives us backround on the census. I would recommend this article to parents or adults, because they take part in the census.

The article i read is called the US Census; why our numbers matter by;Nancy Gibbs. It was about the census and the arguments/disagreements that follow. It was also about how much money goes into doing the census. In 1790 it cost 45000 dollars to hire 650 federal marshals to go door to door on horse back.

Somthing that i learned is that the census comes from the latin word that mean to estimate rather than count. I alsofound out thatthe penalty in rome used to be that if you didn't reveal how many people are in your house you had to fortifie all of your possesions and become a slave. Did you know thatalot of peopledo not agree with taking the census,i don't get why they wouldn't if it could keep you safe.

I thought this article was good ,and i learned tons of stuf about the census. One of them is it takes a long time to do it,in 1790it took over a year and a half to count 3.9 million people. I also never new that taking the census was such a big deal. I would recomend this article to kids so that they understand what the census is and why we have to take it every year.

"The U.S. census why our numbers matters" by Nancy Gibbs was an article about the U.S census. I would summerize this article by saying that some people like being counted in the Census and others don't care for it. They don't feel its important for them to be counted

Here are four facts that i learned while reading this article: it costs $45,000 to count 3.9 million people. God killed 70,000 people in 3 days because of a census by King David. Indiscreet census workers can be fined up to $250,000! It will work out to about $49 per person.

I didn't like reading this article because it was boring. I don't think it had a point either. I would recommend this to the president so he knows what and what not to do.

In the article "The U.S Census: Why Our Numbers Matter" by Nancy Gibbs mostly takes place nationwide/USA. This article was mostly about the U.S census and how it changed since 1970. The article talked about the good and bad things of the U.S census. It also tells facts and opinions from the author

Facts that I learned from this article are:
-The census takes place every ten years
-The first census took place in 1970
-Ads help boost the response rate
-You are charged $49 per person in your census count by getting your form visisted by a census worker

I liked this article, it gave a lot of facts that I didn't know. I personally would send my census in to actually be counted. I think sending your census in should be as easy to just send your census in anonymously. I would recommend this article to anyone who has a family or is involved in the U.S.

"The U.S Cencus :Why Our Numbers Matter" Was an article by Nancy Gibbs, that toke place in the U.S. This article talked abut the U.S cenus and everything about it. Also it talked about how we take it every 10.

I learned the fowlloing facts interesting when I read this article. David's Plague killed 70,000 people in three days, and the cencus workers can be fines up to $250,000. Also the cencus happens every 10yrs because it's a requirement by the constitution, and any household tha doesn't mail in it's cencus form get's a vist from a cencus worker.

I didn't like this article because it was confusing to understand. It wasn't really ment for kids I thought. Also the ending was just like weird. I couldent find anyone to reccomend this article to because it was so confusing
