Research found at: www.cellphonehealthfacts.com:
A new analysis by NCI researchers has turned up no evidence to support a link between cell phone use and brain cancer in the United States. The analysis was carried out in view of concerns about a possible link between widespread use of cell phones and brain cancer risk (Dr. Peter Inskip and his colleagues in NCI's Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics used NCI's SEER database to examine brain cancer incidence trends between 1992 and 2006.)
"Overall, no increase in risk of glioma or meningioma was observed with use of mobile phones. There were suggestions of an increased risk of glioma at the highest exposure levels, but biases and error prevent a causal interpretation. The possible effects of long-term heavy use of mobile phones require further investigation."
—World Health Organization's (WHO) International
Agency for Research on Cancer Interphone Project
The WHO notes that a large number of studies have been performed over the last two decades to assess whether mobile phones pose a potential health risk. To date, no adverse health effects have been established for mobile phone use.
"There is no scientific evidence to date that proves that wireless phone usage can lead to cancer or a variety of other health effects, including headaches, dizziness or memory loss."
—Federal Communications Commission
"[T]he weight of scientific evidence has not linked cell phones with any health problems … The majority of studies published have failed to show an association between exposure to radiofrequency from a cell phone and health problems."
—Food and Drug Administration
"The scientific community at large therefore believes that the weight of scientific evidence does not show an association between exposure to radiofrequency (RF) from cell phones and adverse health outcomes. Still the scientific community does recommend conducting additional research to address gaps in knowledge." (FDA)
—Food and Drug Administration
"Individual national and multinational results published thus far do not indicate an elevation of the risk of cancers in the head with cell phones within 10 years of first use."
—International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection
"Studies have not shown any consistent link between cellular telephone use and cancer, but scientists feel that additional research is needed before firm conclusions can be drawn." (NCI)
—National Cancer Institute
"[I]n general, expert agencies agree that most evidence to date does not point to cell phone use increasing the risk of tumors, but that more research is needed to look at possible long-term effects." (ACS)
—American Cancer Society
"Overall the studies published to date do not demonstrate an increased risk of cancer related to mobile phone use within approximately ten years of use for any tumor of the brain or any other head tumor."
—Swedish Radiation Safety Authority
Does the possible link between cell phone use and brain cancer concern you? Why? or Why not?
Yes I am concerned because a lot of people in our grade have cell phones and ages 10 & up have a lot more higher risk of getting brain cancer and a lot of young ages of people could die!
What steps can you take to limit your risk of radiation exposure?
If I had a cell phone I would keep it away from my body in any way I could like carrying it in a purse or a bag, because I wouldn't want to get brain cancer from radioactive waves because then I maybe some day could end up dying. My sister should read this Aow because she always has her cell phone in her pocket.
does the possible link between cell phone use and brain cancer concern me?
yes because brain cancer is serous and increasing your risk of getting brain cancer by sleeping with your phone close then a inch away. your phone is suppose to be about one inch away from your body.
What step can you take to limit your risk of radiation exposure?
you could sleep with your phone on a table or something just so that your phone is away from you. you could also put your phone on speaker when you are calling someone so that you phone is farther then a inch away.
Does the possible link between cell phone use and brain cancer concern you? Why? Why not?
getting cancer from have you cell phone close to you does concern me because if you get cancer you can die from it and i wouldn't want that to happen and it is just because of a cell phone.
What steps can you take to limit your risk of radiation exposure?
The steps i would take were to put the phone on a table next to your bed or just not bring it into your bedroom when you go to sleep.
Does the possible link between cell phone use and brain cancer concern you?
It does not concern me for brain cancer because Idon't hace a cell phone and i don't talk on a phone a ton I see my friends so much that I never have to really call them. And some people call other friends on there cell phones for no reason, I don't do that.
What steps can you take to limit the risk of radiation exposure?
You could text instead of talk on a cell phone. Dont't call people for no reason. If you need to talk to a friend about alot of things then just invite them over to your house, don't talk on the phone for 30 minutes. And one more thing is I would kee the phone away from you body.
Does the possible link between cell phone use and brain cancer concern you?
The possible link between cell phone use and brain cancer does concern me because, I think it is scary to think that while you are talking on the phone you could be giving yourself brain cancer. I also think that a lot this is the cell phone company's fault, because, I think they should put a big warning on the box instead of just a little warning inside the box. But it's good to know that not all cell phones might cause brain cancer, it's also good to know that they have set up a website to teach people about cell phone health and rules you should follow to be healthier with your cell phone.
What steps can you take to limit your risk of radiation exposure?
Instead of opening the box of your cell phone right away make sure to read the warning on the box so that you know the suggestion for how close you should keep your phone. Also when you are talking on your phone try not to hold it directely up to your ear. If you follow these rules you should be safer while using your cell phone.
What steps can you take to limit your risk of radiation exposure?
Well you could talk on speaker when you are alone and when you are in public you could use the phone an inch away from your head or you could talk on a blue tooth. That way you can still talk on you phone but the radiation wont get to your head.
Do some additional research on this subject and report what you find.
In my research I found out that cell phones are placed to close to your head and the radiation goes into you tissues in your head. I also learned that the source of radiation comes from the transmitter and antenna. Some of the risks are... Leukemia (a type of cancer), lonizing radiation which strips atoms and tissues in your body, and non-ionizing radiation which is safer. It causes some heating effect but had no long term damage. As you can see radiation from cell phones is bad so try ways to keep your self safe from the long term damage ahead.
Does the possible link between cellphone use ad brain cancer concern you?
why? or why not?
Yes because there's a chance of cancer no matter how small. It's cancer and deadly no one want's to increase their chance of getting cancer.
What steps can you take to limit your risk of radiation exposure?
The step i'll take is by keeping the phone at least 1 inch away from my face. I might put my phone on speaker or text a little bit more than calling.
Does the possible link between cell phone use and brain cancer concern you? Why or Why not?
No it does not because first of all I do not even get HOW you can get brain caner from to much cell phone use and second of all in one of the paragraphs I did actully agree with the article. itt is the sentence where it says "The study concluded that using a cellphone seemed to decrease brain tumors." they even said it thereself. That's why it doesn't concern me.
What steps can you take to limit your risk of radiation exposure? The first step for me is to choose a cellphone with lower Spacific Absorbtion Rate. the second step would be to limit the minutes I talk on my phone. And the last step would be to hold the cellphone away from my head or body.
does the possible link between cell phone use and brain cancer concerrn you why or why not it does concern me because a lot of people have cell phones and they talk. ages 10 and up have a much better chance of geting brain cancer and that means more people will die at a young age
what steps can you take to limit your radiation exposure. the steps i would take would be not t take it to bed or everywere i go.
Does the possible link between cell phone use and brain cancer concern you? Why? Or Why not?
It kinda does because I never ever want to get any kind of cancer. Its freaky when you talk on the phone it could cause brain cancer. cancer is a really bad and scary thing. I wish cancer never existed.
Do additional research on this topic and report what you find.
For my research on this topic I have found that they do increase brain tumors.[like they said in the piece we read] I've also found that cell phones do not release enough radiation or energy to damage DNA or genetic material, which can lead to cancer. About brain tumors, people that talk on the phone for over a decade may have as much as three times greater risk of developing brain tumors on the side of the head against which they most often hold their phone.
Does the possible link between cell phones and brain cancer concern me ? Well yes it does .It is nerve racking to even think those two words even exist in the same sentence. It is equipment we use everyday. Why do we use it if it causes so many problems?
How can I limit the risk of radiation exposer ? Well for one I have never had a cell phone before but if I did I would most likely read the instructions first because it most likely has the directions come with it. Keep the phone away from your ear or any part of your body.
Does the possible link between cell phone use and brain cancer concern you? Why? Why not?
The possible link between cell phones and brain cancer does concern me, considering the number of people that press their cell phones close when talking. If this hypothisis is correct, I think we will see a jump in the number of brain cancer victims in the next 10 years. One thing is for sure, cell phone manufacturers are going to keep turning out knew phones and unless they do something about it, radiation problems are just going to get worse.
What steps can you take to limit your risk of radiation exposure?
Well, for starters, keeping your cell at the required lenght away from body would decrease your chance of radiation exposure. You also should not keep your cell phone aroud you more than necessary, and text instead of chatting on your cell forever and a day. Lastly, isn't it just as easy to shoot and e-mail or use a land line when at home, cutting that cell phone time out of your life? Thats what I thought! It would be so easy and increase your risk of brain cancer! Just say no to cell phone snuggling!
What steps can you take to limit your risk of radiation exposure?
I think I can hold the phone two inches away from my face. I can also try not to use a phone that much as I do.
Dose the possible link between cellphone use and brain cancer concern you?
No because I think every time I pick up a cell phone I do not think about if I will get brain cancer. But I some times think about brain cancer. But that will not stop me from useing a cell phone.
Does the possible link between cell phone use and brain cancer concern you? Why or why not. It concerns me just a little bit because I wouldn't want me or anyone I know to get brain cancer, but I'm wondering if the POSSIBLE link is even real because it doesn't make much sense and even if it is real, then how come no one has actually gotten sick from it and it's never been on the news or anything.
What steps can you take to limit your risk of radiation exposure? First of all, you can actually talk to the person you want to talk to in person or use the home phone. Second, of all if you have to use the cell phone, just put it on speaker phone or text the person. Third of all, go on email or something. And last of all, avoid carrying it as much as you can and don't sleep by it.
Does the possible link between cell phone use and brain cancer convern you? why? why not? it does for me because alot of people in our grade have cell phones including me and we have a better chance of being harmed and we could end up dying what steps can you take to limit your risk of radiation exposure? from now on im going to try to carry it as far away from my body as possible like instead of putting it in my pocket i'll put it in a bag or something. Because i dont want to end up dead.
Does the possible link between cell phone use and brain cancer concern you?
I guess it does because to think of it, when you use a cell phone you're a step closer to getting brain cancer. I kind of knew that it could damage your brain but not as serious as cancer. It is kind of scary to think that when you're talking on the phone, you're actually one phone call away from getting cancer. I wish they could invent a phone that could actually help you prevent from getting brain cancer. Who knows, mayb that will be the next thing!
What steps can you take to limit your risk of radiation exposure?
I could start of by not calling so much and texting more. Keeping it away from my body is number one because I wouldn't want to get cancer by radioactive waves. When I sleep I usually leave my cell phone downstairs instead of in my room at night. I personally put my cell phone in my pocket so putting it in a bag is a good idea.
I think that to limit your exposure, you should carry your cellphone in a bag or purse. You should also keep your cellphone 3 feet away from your bed at night.
The risk of getting cancer doesn't concern me because even though cancer is deadly, it's not like you are going die because you talk on the phone. It will only increase your risk a little.
Does the possible link between cellphone use and brain cancer concern you?Yes it does because if you hold it to close for to long it can effect you.So to prevent it I would text more and talk less. That is if I had a phone...MOM!What steps can you take to limit your risk of radiation exposure? You can keep your phone at least 1 inch from your body and keep it away when you sleep.
i find it hard to belive that a cell phone can cause brain cancer. but what i don't understand is why cell phone companys aren't doing anything about this, are they really going to sit there while people get brain cancer. some reaschers should find away to really decrease the amount of radition that comes out of the phones. but don't worry there are things you can do to protect yourself such as,do not hold the phone up agaianst your ear.
Does the possible link between cellphone use and brain cancer concern you why? why not?
It does kind of concern me because cancers deadly, and its something a lot of people worry about. If cellphones are to close to your head are causing brain cancer i'm going to be more careful.
what steps can you take to limit risk of radiation exposure?
I can limit radiation exposure by reminding people about it and setting an example myself. I will also remember to keep the phone away from my head and body.
doesn the possible link between cell phone use and brain cancer concern you? yes i think it is a concern most people have because brain cancer and tumors are deadly and serious dieases that could kill you.
what are ome steps to limit your risk of radiation expsure. i don't have a cell phone but my sister does and one way to limit it is you could keep your phone downstairs so the radiation can't get to you so eisly.
Does the possible link between cell phone use and Brain cancer concern you why or why not.
It does concern me, because everyone in my family has a cell phone execpt for me, and I don't want them getting cancer because of radiation exposure.
What steps can you take to limit your risk of radiation exposure?
I really do not know what steps i can take to limit my risk, and that's probaly because I don't have a cell phone
